Love

July 24, 1997

Luuuuuv. So much to talk about on this one. We all need it, and we all can't seem to get enough of it. But what kind of love is it that we seek? Is it the "unselfed love" Mrs. Eddy speaks of? Or is it the love of persons, places and things? These are the questions we pondered today.

We talked about the idea that the love we ultimately seek is the Love that seeks us. The Love that "cannot be deprived of its manifestation, or object" (Science & Health 304:11) . The infinite power of Love works in mysterious ways in our lives - pushing us toward a higher demonstration of who we really are - how God, Love, sees us, His ideas (see Science & Health 240:21).

The marginal comment for the above reads, "Progress demanded" - by who? - Love.

Mortal Mind would try to make demands on us every day. And if we are not on guard, we take it's claims seriously and thus become less receptive to Love and to the Christ, Truth. One member - the "court jester" if you will, argued that perhaps we should not take everything so seriously - Lighten up, if you will. So you can't find your car keys - big deal. Rather than get into a thunderous and foul mood, slamming and banging your way around the house, leave the situation (no matter how small) in God's hands and feel the harmony of Truth which always has the situation in hand. Easier said than done, but sometimes you gotta start somewhere.
